Excerpt: Five years ago today, @defunkt, @pjhyett, and I gathered in our online chat room and prepared to push a commit to GitHub that would finally mark the public launch of our little Git-hosting service. During the private beta we had signed up 6,000 users and helped them share 2,500 repositories. Now, five years later, I'm incredibly proud to be part of a company with 158 team members dedicated to helping our 3. 5 million users collaborate across 6 million repositories. Enterprise Support in GitHub for Mac

Excerpt: Today, we're excited to the latest release of GitHub for Mac with support for GitHub Enterprise. You'll now be able to use all of your favorite Mac features, such as "Clone in Mac", username autocompletion, and notifications, with your Enterprise repositories. We also support simultaneously logging in to GitHub. com, so you'll have all of your repositories available in one place. STL File Viewing

Excerpt: Here at GitHub, we're always excited to see people using GitHub to collaborate on all sorts of things, code or non-code. Today, we're adding a third dimension by making it easier to view some 3D models, specifically STL files, on GitHub. You're able to spin the model by clicking & dragging, zoom in/out by scrolling, and change the view modes with the links at the bottom. This viewer is powered by Three. js and uses WebGL when available, but will fall back to the slower canvas renderer. If you have further questions, check out the help article. New GitHub Pages domain: github.io

Excerpt: Beginning today, all GitHub Pages sites are moving to a new, dedicated domain: github. io. This is a security measure aimed at removing potential vectors for cross domain attacks targeting the main github. com session as well as vectors for phishing attacks relying on the presence of the "github. com" domain to build a false sense of trust in malicious websites. If you've configured a custom domain for your Pages site ("yoursite. com" instead of "yoursite. github. com") then you are not affected by this change and may stop reading now. If your Pages site was previously served from a username. github. com domain, all traffic will be redirected to the new username. github. io location indefinitely, so you won't have to change any links.... read the full post.
