For developers, the cloud means having to rethink everything they know about making software
feedproxy.google.com on

Excerpt: Summary: It’s not often the software world goes through a revolutionary change. But the advent of the cloud will force software developers to reevaluate – and discard – many of their most basic assumptions. The paradigm hasn’t changed since the advent of software: Applications run, and platforms are what they run on. But the underlying principles of application design and deployment do change every now and then – sometimes drastically, thanks to quantum-leap developments in infrastructure. Amazon Web Services Blog: AWS SDK for Node.js - Now Generally Available
aws.typepad.com on

Excerpt: The General Availability (GA) release of the AWS SDK for Node. js is now available and can be installed through npm as aws-sdk. The downside of a self service, open API, is that we do not often get to see what developers have built, unless they wish to become an official Xero Add-on or Developer partner. What to chart? Getting insights into the languages developers are using is actually quite tricky.... read the full post.

Want to Attract Developers to your API? Set Them Free
blog.mashery.com on

Excerpt: When it comes to APIs, credibility with developers is critical, whether you are trying to hire them, attract them to your developer network, or get them to build integrations and apps using your API. Anyone running an API program needs to understand what works and what doesn't when working with developers.  Even if it's your API and your data,  developers inside and outside your company building integrations  are ultimately the ones who  make or break the success of your API. A recent high-profile case demonstrates some of the risks inherent in claiming rights to everything done with your API. Last June, a ruling last year by federal judge William Alsup in an Oracle vs.... read the full post.
