Jersey and Guice: a perfect combination for writing RESTful APIs
sites.google.com on

Excerpt: However, I would like to go a little bit against the flow and show how a pure-Java application  (with a little JavaScript/HTML/CSS on the client-side, which is inevitable unless you're willing to adopt GWT or some other heavy-handed solution) can, in fact, look really cool, simple and effective! To do that, I will use just these 2 kick-ass Java technologies: Guice (Dependency Injection magic) These are quite new, but already well-established technologies, so you can expect them to just work! I will show you how to build a Java application to provide a HTTP REST API with minimum effort. We are going to use Jersey to implement our REST web services because it is the default implementation of JAX-RS/JSR-311.... read the full post.

Microsoft Paying Developers $100 to Publish Windows Apps
feedproxy.google.com on

Excerpt: This week, Microsoft announced that developers who publish apps on the Windows Store and/or Windows Phone Store can claim $100 for each published app (up to a total of 10 on each store, totaling up to $2000 per developer). In a bid to gain more interest from app developers who are increasingly focusing on Android and iPhone apps, this is a tactic that Microsoft hopes will draw up more quality apps (the deal is applicable to the first 10,000 apps submitted) for their stores which are struggling to compete with the larger ‘duopoly’ of Google Play and Apple App Store. The deal will last until June 30th 2013, and to apply, developers must publish their apps on either of the stores, then complete this form.... read the full post.

Panoptix App Developer Program: What APIs would you like to see
whatspossible.johnsoncontrols.com on

Excerpt: At last November’s launch, the Panoptix App Developer Program provided building and meter APIs. Earlier this year we added AHU and VAV APIs. In the near future we will announce the availability of a Utility Bill API. We will continue to expand the API set to meet the needs of our partners. This could be additional HVAC equipment, weather stations, or other entities involved in building efficiency. As the product manager for the Panoptix platform, I’d like to get some feedback from you. What information are you looking for from the Panoptix platform? What information is critical for you to extend your current applications, or to support new applications?   Why is this important or of value to you?... read the full post.

Platform Updates: Share API Enhancements
developer.linkedin.com on

Excerpt: Kamyar Mohager, Feb 6, 2013 We've seen great adoption of the Share API among applications using the LinkedIn Platform over the last few months. While the API serves as a great way to increase engagement for your users, as a developer it was difficult to determine where the share was located once it was successfully posted. We're happy to announce that now you'll receive a more helpful response when making a successful POST to the API: Successful Share API Response The updateKey is a unique identifier of the newly created share. You can use this key to query the XML or JSON representation of the update: GET Alternatively, you may choose to redirect your user to the updateUrl.... read the full post.

Apps Script Rewind
googleappsdeveloper.blogspot.com on

Sometimes you want to draw on other Apps Scripters for inspiration or help. That’s why the Apps Script team — and many other developer-focused teams at Google — record Google Developers Live episodes in which we highlight a specific topic and drill down to discuss it in detail. We also hold regular livestreamed office hours via Google+ Hangouts, which we post on YouTube afterwards. In these office hours, we discuss recent releases and give in-depth tutorials on topics interesting to Apps Script users.... read the full post.

Sensis Developer Centre - Yellow Pages API and White Pages API : Zombie App Ideas
developers.sensis.com.au on

Excerpt: We hoped that by invoking a zombie apocalypse, we might inspire a couple of developers to get creative and take part in our first ever bounty challenge. Turns out, we didn't have to worry. With 18 teams signed up so far, it's clear you all care very much about protecting the human race from the zombie hordes! It's reassuring to know you've got our backs. A lot of you seem to be working on a map/guide application for survivors, so give some thought to how you might distinguish your app from others. It might be a killer UI, it might be some flashy design elements, or it might be that you've mashed SAPI up with some other, unexpected API services. Consider your user needs.... read the full post.
