Failed transaction rates by payment gateways
blog.spreedly.com on

Excerpt: Spreedly is a credit card vault in the cloud that allows you to work multiple payment gateways simultaneously or over time. As such, we’re in a unique position to see transactional data across payment gateways for our customers. Failed transactions are an ongoing concern for all of our customers. At best they equal a costly customer support intervention and at worst lost sales. So while many merchants spend time on sites like Feefighters trying to optimize rates paid others understand that failed transactions are potentially the same or more important than the fees they pay. The problem is there is no Feefighters for failure and success rates by payment gateway.... read the full post.

Introducing Sockii: HTTP and WebSocket aggregator
blog.serverdensity.com on

Excerpt: Developing the upcoming Server Density v2 over the past year has forced us to tackle some very interesting and difficult problems. This post introduces Sockii, a Node. js daemon which aggregates multiple WebSocket connections and proxies them to a single socket to the user’s browser. Server Density v2 was re-designed from the ground up as a distributed set of HTTP services, following much in the same vein as Netflix or Amazon’s Service Orientated Architecture approach. What that means is that each distinctly different moving part of the project was separated into its own service (when it made sense to do so), e. g. “users”, “devices”, “cloud” etc.... read the full post.

OPENi API Framework (Part I): Studying the landscape of cloud-based Services
www.openi-ict.eu on

Excerpt: Today, an emerging trend to expose functionalities through publicly available APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) has not only redefined how software and services are delivered, but also indicates how business value is moving towards a thriving high-paced mobile application ecosystem. Along these lines, the OPENi focal research contribution lies on the cloudlet concept and on an open API framework that will be capable of interoperating with any cloud-based service, abstracting the integration challenges to a single open standard without losing any service features.... read the full post.

Kloudless Launches Service That Uses Connectors To Move Files Between Different Cloud Services
techcrunch.com on

Excerpt: Kloudless launched at Disrupt NY 2013 today with its service for moving data from email to different cloud platforms through connectors which act like pipes that flow between the different services. The service offers a plugin that the user installs in Outlook or as an extension through their web browser to use in Gmail or other apps, said CEO Eliot Sun. Kloudless does not store any data, nor files, the service sits in the middle, acting basically as just a pipeline. When looking at Kloudless, think of services such as ifttt but with less automation and more ability to customize how data flows out of email and into other services. The idea is to give people more flexibility when moving data.... read the full post.

[New Whitepaper] Real-Time Data Aggregation
blog.infochimps.com on

Excerpt: Fast response times generate costs savings and greater revenue. Enterprise data architectures are incomplete unless they can ingest, analyze, and react to data in real-time as it is generated. While previously inaccessible or too complex — scalable, affordable real-time solutions are now finally available to any enterprise. Read Infochimps’ newest whitepaper on how Infochimps Cloud::Streams is a proprietary stream processing framework based on four years of experience with sourcing and analyzing both bulk and in-motion data sources.... read the full post.

Excerpt: There are over 8100 in the ProgrammableWeb API directory. We are at a point where aggregating common, popular APIs into single, standardized interfaces is emerging as the next evolution in web and mobile app development. To support common patterns in web and mobile app development like user management, object storage, image management, social integration and analytics, API aggregation platforms are emerging. Four problems facing the API economy
www.adigami.com on

Excerpt: A number of significant developments over the past 5 years have propelled us into what some call an API economy… APIGEE has a great video explaining this and is definitely worth seeing. In a nutshell, because of the rapid proliferation of devices and apps, if you have some data that is remotely useful, it needs to be accessible through an API. This has led many companies – big and small – to develop proprietary APIs that are either public or accessible to partners. While API technology has also matured over the past 5-10 years, developing applications against an API (or a set of APIs) is still not easy.... read the full post.
